The Fourth Lateran Council (1215) recommended the establishment of groups of experienced preachers to support bishops in their ministry, and the papacy soon identified suitable personalities to inaugurate a new style of regular life that would hold together the two motifs now considered fundamental: preaching and pastoral ministry. | ||
