| Summary: | This study aims to compare the intention of Generation X and Y to use digital zakat payment services in Indonesia. It is motivated by the fact that the actual zakat collection in Indonesia is still meagre, one of which is due to the low usage of digital zakat service across generations. It extends the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and utilizes the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method to analyze the primary data from 734 respondents. The findings suggest that the intention of gen-X and gen-Y to use digital zakat services is influenced by facilitating conditions, performance expectancy, social influence, and zakat literacy. Interestingly, trust in zakat institutions only influences Gen-Y’s intention. These suggest that, while the technology variables equally influence both generations, social factors such as trust only substantially influence the younger generation’s (gen-Y’s) behavior. Therefore, zakat institutions should implement different strategies for different Muslim generations. |
