| Riepilogo: | This article presents an edition of four pseudo-Augustinian sermons from the Carolingian sermonary of Würzburg, a collection of 145 sermons dating from the first quarter of the ninth century. All four sermons treat the subject of concupiscence in the context of almsgiving. It is argued from an analysis of the sermons’ Latinity that they all derive ultimately from the same anonymous late antique author, albeit with Carolingian modifications. A comparison with Augustine’s writings on concupiscentia as well as his sermons on almsgiving shows the extent to which Augustinian doctrine underpins the theoretical framework of these sermons. Finally, on the basis of common stylistic features it is suggested that further items in the sermonary may also share the same provenance. Cet article présente une édition de quatre sermons pseudo-augustiniens du sermonnaire carolingien de Würzburg, une collection de 145 sermons datant du premier quart du IXe siècle. Les quatre pièces traitent de la concupiscence dans le contexte de l’aumône. Fondé sur une analyse de la latinité des sermons, cet article soutient que tous proviennent du même auteur anonyme de l’Antiqué tardive, quoique avec des modifications carolingiennes. Une comparaison avec les écrits d’Augustin sur la concupiscence aussi bien que ses sermons sur l’aumône montre à quel point le cadre théorique des sermons était influencé par la doctrine augustinienne. Enfin, cet article suggère d’attribuer, à cause de caractéristiques communes, d’autres sermons de ce sermonnaire au même auteur. |
