The second part of the work is the study of the way in which Tertullian exploits the psychological, theological, and epistemological doctrine of Socrates-and this will enable us to evaluate the specificity of this reception and its interest for the History of ancient thought. The third section is focused on the subject in which Tertullian is the most interested: the Socratic demon; one shall show the stakes of the Christian critique of the pagan gods. | ||
| 520 | |a Le but de cette étude est de fournir un aperçu général, thématique et analytique du témoignage de Tertullien sur Socrate. Dans un premier temps, on examinera les textes où Tertullien a recours à des données historiques et littéraires, et on comparera les diverses attitudes qu’il adopte à l’égard de Socrate. La deuxième partie du travail consiste en l’étude de la manière dont Tertullien exploite la doctrine psychologique, théologique et épistémologique de Socrate - ce qui permettra d’évaluer la spécificité de cette réception et son intérêt pour l’histoire de la pensée antique. Quant à la troisième section, elle est consacrée au sujet qui a le plus intéressé Tertullien : le démon de Socrate ; on montrera alors les enjeux de sa critique chrétienne des dieux du paganisme. | ||
