In the light of the discovery of the manuscript Lucca, biblioteca capitolare 14 (9th century), which contains a series of texts named as libri de patriarchis in its table of contents, and based on a reinterpretation of the meaning of liber in the three cassiodorian passages that refer to the series, this article aims to propose some elucidation about the identity and the order of the books which composed the succession of texts. This one would be due to a thematic edition, composed in Milan in the 5th or 6th century. Within the series, however, four treatises, De Isaac uel anima, De bono mortis, De fuga saeculi and De Iacob and uita beata, make up a tetralogy, whose thematic consistency and specific tradition in the manuscripts suggest a publication decided by Ambrose himself. | ||

À la lumière de la découverte du manuscrit Lucca, biblioteca capitolare 14 (ixe s.), qui contient une série de textes désignés comme les libri de patriarchis dans sa table des matières, et d’une relecture de Cassiodore, qui propose une nouvelle interprétation du mot liber dans les trois passages ayant trait à la série en question, l’article a pour but de proposer des clarifications sur l’identité et l’ordre des livres qui composaient cet ensemble. Celui-ci résulterait d’une édition thématique composée à Milan au ve ou vie siècle. Toutefois, au sein même de cette série, quatre traités, le De Isaac uel anima, le De bono mortis, le De fuga saeculi et le De Iacob et uita beata, forment une tétralogie dont la cohérence thématique et l’unité de transmission dans la tradition manuscrite la plus ancienne suggèrent une publication décidée par Ambroise lui-même. | ||
