Description
Summary:The Bishop emeritus of Novo Hamburgo, RS, Dom Friar Boaventura, helped by the wisdom accumulated in more than eighty years on this earth and in tune with the theme of the 2003 Fraternity Campaign – Fraternity and the Aged – reflects upon the meaning of old age. He remembers some of the basic arguments of the Christian doctrine – in particular God’s eternal plan that invites the human creature to participate in the divine nature and to gain eternal life – truths that can help to bring comfort to the elderly person, worried about his/her chronic ailments and about the imminence of having to render accounts to the Creator. The paper ends with this comforting truth: if we die with Christ, we will live with Christ; if we suffer with Christ, we will reign with Christ (2Tm 2,11-12).
