It describes the decisive contribution of the Jewish-Christian Revelation to the blossoming of a new consciousness of human dignity and focuses on the person of Jesus of Nazareth as the highest point of this historical process. Jesus, the Son of God, “made Himself weak among the weak and with the weak” and empathized with human vulnerability. Jesus revealed the creature’s supreme dignity and founded a new ethic, the ethic of responsibility and solidarity. This responsibility includes caring for all live beings and for the integrity of nature, God’s work. | ||
| 520 | |a Tendo como pano de fundo o fenômeno da “exculturação do cristianismo”, o artigo procura mostrar que é necessário reivindicar a dignidade da pessoa humana em uma perspectiva que não seja apenas econômica e secular. Explicita a decisiva contribuição da Revelação judeu-cristã para o desabrochar de uma nova consciência da dignidade humana, e destaca a pessoa de Jesus de Nazaré como o ponto culminante desse processo histórico. Jesus, o Filho de Deus, “se fez fraco entre os fracos e com os fracos”, e se solidarizou com a vulnerabilidade humana. Jesus revela a suprema dignidade da criatura e funda uma nova ética, a ética da responsabilidade e da solidariedade. Essa responsabilidade se estende ao cuidado pelos seres vivos e pela integridade da natureza, obra de Deus. | ||
