On the contrary, in the line of the older traditions, it must be an attitude of active reception in which the teachings are heeded and inserted in the life and path of the local Church. This is what we call reception. Thus, the Aparecida Document, as the outcome of the hard work of the Aparecida Conference and of a process in which the views of the various churches were heard, is an expression of the synodal unity and collegiality of the Continent’s Churches and Episcopacy. It is now presented to the Latin American Church in the strong hope that it will be well received. It is not perfect, since no document is perfect. But it introduces many valuable paths. The Author gives particular emphasis to three of those: the individual’s and the community’s encounter with Jesus Christ; the pastoral conversion; and the option for the poor and the excluded. If these paths are accepted this may well be the beginning of a new age in the history of the Latin American Church. | ||

Pelo contrário, na linha da tradição mais antiga, deve ser a de uma recepção ativa em que o ensino é acolhido e inserido na vida e na caminhada da Igreja local. É o que se chama de recepção. Desse modo, o Documento de Aparecida, resultado de ampla escuta das Igrejas e da elaboração da Conferência de Aparecida, é expressão da sinodalidade e da colegialidade das Igrejas e do episcopado do Continente. E assim, é apresentado à Igreja latino-americana, na firme esperança de que encontre acolhida. Ele não é perfeito, como não é perfeito nenhum documento. Mas, apresenta valiosos caminhos. O Autor destaca três deles: o encontro pessoal e comunitário com Jesus Cristo, a conversão pastoral e a opção pelos pobres e excluídos. Se forem assumidos, podem dar início a uma nova época na história da Igreja latino-americana. | ||
