| Sumario: | In a recent article Roger Schwarzchild's advanced his so-called nominal hypothesis on the use of ʾasher arguing that ʾasher never ceased to be categorized as a noun in the syntactic component of the grammar of Biblical Hebrew. In the present article Schwarzchild's arguments are critically reviewed. Additional texts from the Hebrew Old Testament are also brought into consideration and other questions relevant to the syntactic use of ʾasher are addressed. |
