Описание
Итог:This paper offers a discussion of the nature of Levinas's philosophic, "paradigmatic" reading of the Talmud. It shows Levinas's discourse on the Talmud stems from a critique of both the academic philological approach as well as of the traditional "religious" approach. Levinas's position of exteriority vis-a-vis the traditional rabbinic discourse and institution was harshly criticized by Benny Levy, who attacked Levinas's "ideological" project of "translating the Talmud into Greek", i.e. into the philosophical conceptual language, as ignoring the "metaphysical war" between the Jewish and "Western" thought. Through a thorough analysis of Levy's critique ofLevinas's reading of the talmudic passage dedicated to the translation of the Torah into Greek, this paper shows both that Levy's critique is well-grounded and that his own approach to the Talmud is equally "ideological".
