| Summary: | O Cântico das Criaturas, de São Francisco de Assis, cujo oitavo centenário é celebrado em 2025, expressa poeticamente a fraternidade entre o ser humano e as demais criaturas, a começar pelo "Irmão Sol". As estrofes finais voltam-se para a condição humana, com destaque para o perdão, a paz e a morte. A presente reflexão busca investigar se a transição do louvor às criaturas do cosmos, nas estrofes iniciais, e a abordagem das realidades humanas, nas estrofes finais, indica uma ruptura no pensamento franciscano ou, ao contrário, revela a profunda interligação de todo o universo criado. O percurso proposto adota uma análise hermenêutica de natureza poética e teológica, ancorada em fontes primárias e na tradição interpretativa franciscana. Parte-se de uma breve consideração sobre a figura de Francisco de Assis, revisitam-se aspectos essenciais do Cântico, com atenção à espiritualidade de caráter familiar, culminando numa reflexão sobre o ser humano, chamado ao perdão, à paz e à aceitação da finitude. A fraternidade, vivida e anunciada por Francisco, configura-se como uma decisão ética, para além dos vínculos biológicos, e um projeto em contínua construção. The Canticle of the Creatures, by Saint Francis of Assisi, whose 800th anniversary will be celebrated in 2025, poetically expresses the fraternity between humans and other creatures, starting with "Brother Sun". The final stanzas focus on the human condition, highlighting forgiveness, peace, and death. This reflection seeks to investigate whether the transition from praising the creatures of the cosmos in the initial stanzas to addressing human realities in the final stanzas indicates a rupture in Franciscan thought or, on the contrary, reveals the deep interconnectedness of the entire created universe. The proposed approach adopts a hermeneutical analysis of a poetic and theological nature, anchored in primary sources and the Franciscan interpretive tradition. It begins with a brief consideration of the figure of Francis of Assisi, revisits essential aspects of the Canticle, with attention to the spirituality of a familial nature, culminating in a reflection on the human being, called to forgiveness, peace, and acceptance of finitude. The fraternity lived and announced by Francis is configured as an ethical decision, beyond biological ties, and a project in continuous construction. |
