Finding canonical criticism ?? of a core tradition within canonical literature inadequate, this article opts for Salman Rushdie's concept of story streams to explain the phenomenon of intertextuality. The conclusion is that canon is nothing more than a moment of the life of a story within a community. Each time a canonical text is read, a new story is inevitably constructed in which the canonical text is but one of the participants in the intertextual dialogue.
