520 |a Some African theologians have interpreted in divergent ways the relationship between the concepts of God in the Old Testament and in African traditional religions. In view of the different cultural and political contexts which influence the interpretive presuppositions and approaches, divergent interpretations may be unavoidable. However, the interpretations seem to have some major theological flaws. For an interpretation to be theologically acceptable, African theologians need to have their cultural and theological presuppositions analysed critically and theologically. In their interpretation of the relationship between the concepts of God in the Old Testament and African traditional religions, they should develop positive and constructive theological approaches rather than applying apologetic or polemical ones.
