Ces appréciations témoignent de son rayonnement, qui se mesure aux échelles locale, régionale, nationale voire européenne, et qui s'inscrit dans de multiples registres, depuis le Moyen Âge jusqu'à nos jours. Ainsi, la cathédrale est célébrée par des écrivains, chantée par des poètes, fréquentée par des pèlerins venus vénérer l'insigne relique du chef de saint Jean-Baptiste. Elle est aussi un modèle du point de vue de son architecture et de sa construction. Elle est enfin le siège d'un pouvoir spirituel et temporel, celui des évêques et des chanoines, avant que de nouveaux enjeux politiques, civiques, touristiques et patrimoniaux s'en emparent. La cathédrale d'Amiens rayonne ainsi auprès de ceux qui y prient, la regardent, s'en inspirent ou la pensent, à travers l'imaginaire, l'art ou l'histoire."--Back cover | ||
