AB Nous apportons une perspective anthropologique à certains aspects de la recherche de l’équipe SPIPRA (Spiritualités et pratiques). À partir de notre recherche menée sur les religions et les spiritualités au Québec, nous examinons le contexte social et politique du travail des intervenants spirituels. Nous nous intéressons ensuite à leur savoir religieux/spirituel spécifique et au savoir-faire qu’ils déploient dans leurs relations avec les personnes qu’ils cherchent à aider et dans la création de rituels adaptés aux nouveaux besoins sociaux et spirituels. Nous examinons brièvement d’autres aspects de leur profession (réflexivité, relations égalitaires avec les clients et les patients dans les institutions au sein desquelles ils travaillent). En conclusion, nous soulignons la pertinence des compétences des ISS au-delà du milieu hospitalier.
AB I bring an anthropological perspective to certain aspects of the SPIPRA team's research (Spiritualités et pratiques). On the basis of my research on religions and spiritualities in Quebec, I examine the social and political context of the work of spiritual care workers (Intervenants en soins spirituels). I then look at their particular kind of religious/spiritual knowing and the know-how they deploy in their relationships with those they seek to help, and in the creation of rituals adapted to new social and spiritual needs. I briefly examine other aspects of their profession (reflexivity, egalitarian relationships with clients and patients in the institutions where they work). In conclusion, I emphasize the relevance of their skills beyond the hospital setting.
