This article argues that a number of these problems are a result of disputes between the descendants of those deported to Babylon with Jehoiachin in 597 BCE and the descendants of those left behind with Zedekiah in the homeland. The high concentration of textual problems in Gen 49 is consistent with similar textual difficulties in other texts concerned with this conflict. | ||
