520 |a After briefly presenting some of the most relevant developments of Catholic fundamental theology in the post-conciliar period, particularly in relation to the Trinitarian theology implied by the Nicene Creed, this article aims to critically present how these developments were attacked in the pages of the newly-founded journal Communio between 1972 and 1975. The ample space reserved for reflection on the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed by the various national editions of the journal, in fact, testifies to the tensions and concerns about the "de-Hellenisation" of the Christian faith; the controversy, for which this article simply intends to recontruct a significant stage, would lead to the harsh "defence of the faith" policy of the 1980s and 1990s.
