Description
Summary:This article aims to look at the relationship between Pentecostal, charismatic and non-denominational Christianity and the Nicaean creed. Moving beyond the prejudicial assumption that the emergence on a global scale of these new forms of Christianity has obscured the centrality of the symbols of faith in contemporary Christian identity, it shows on one side the historical importance of the creed within classical Pentecostalism, particularly in the Jesus only/Oneness controversy, and on the other side the unnecessary character that this symbol represents for non-denominational bodies.
