| 520 | |a Le relazioni giuridiche fra la Santa Sede e l'ONU sono esaminate sia sotto il profilo formale, legato allo status di Stato osservatore permanente che essa ha dal 1964, che sotto quello sostanziale, inteso ad evidenziare alcuni dei contenuti salienti impressi dalla Santa Sede alla sua presenza nell'Organizzazione. La missione spirituale e la volontà di restare estranea alle competizioni fra Stati hanno contraddistinto la partecipazione della Santa Sede al dialogo multilaterale, conferendo al suo contributo una portata ed un significato unici, nel segno del rispetto in ogni circostanza dell'essere umano e della sua dignità - una direzione che è anche quella dell'evoluzione normativa dell'ordinamento internazionale. Aspetti salienti del contributo della Santa Sede all'ONU sono i richiami al valore e alla necessità dell'Organizzazione, principale sede della cooperazione multilaterale; al valore e alla necessità di rispettare in buona fede la legalità internazionale, riassunta nei fini e principi della Carta delle Nazioni Unite, condizione della convivenza; al valore e alla necessità di ricordare che il fine ultimo di ogni ente politico è la tutela della persona umana, come singolo e come parte della famiglia umana. | ||
| 520 | |a Legal relations between the Holy See and the United Nations are examined from both from a formal point of view, linked to the permanent observer State status it has had since 1964, and from a substantive point of view, intended to highlight some of the salient contents imprinted by the Holy See on its presence in the Organization. The spiritual mission and the desire to remain extraneous to competitions between States have marked the Holy See's participation in the multilateral dialogue, giving it a unique scope and meaning, in the sign of respect for the human being and his dignity in all circumstances - a direction that pertains also to the normative evolution of the international order. Salient aspects of the Holy See's contribution to the UN are the reminders of the value and necessity of the Organization, as the principal forum for multilateral cooperation; of the value and necessity of respecting in good faith international legality, summarized in the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, as the condition of coexistence; of the value and necessity of remembering that the ultimate goal of every political entity is the protection of the huma~ person, as an individual and in the social groups where her existence develops. | ||
