Waren sie bis zum Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzil integraler Teil eines eher geschlossenen Katholischen Milieus, so stehen sie heute an der Schnittstelle von Kirche und Gesellschaft. Soziologisch gesehen gelten sie als "Dritter Ort". Sie basieren auf ehrenamtlichem Engagement, für das ein breites Konzept der Qualifizierung bereitsteht. Als Teil der Pfarreien verweisen sie auf die Möglichkeiten, die die Territorialseelsorge immer noch bietet. | ||
| 520 | |a Catholic public libraries are underestimated places of pastoral care. They also make an important contribution to society. So far, they have hardly been recognised in pastoral theological reflection. This article provides a pastoral history of how Catholic libraries came to be founded and how they spread. While they were an integral part of a closed Catholic Milieu until the Second Vatican Council, today they stand at the interface between church and society. In sociological terms, they are considered a "Third Place". They are based on voluntary commitment, for which a broad concept of qualification is available. As part of the parishes, they refer to the opportunities that territorial pastoral care still offers. | ||
