| Resumo: | Cet article répond aux autres contributions de ce numéro spécial, en se concentrant sur les points de convergence entre elles. Ces points incluent un sentiment partagé que les médias ont mal traité le convoi de camionneurs ; une conviction commune que la rhétorique des manifestants a souvent impliqué une substitution idéologique de la partie pour le tout (ou vice versa) ; et un intérêt partagé dans la façon dont les récits mythiques du passé façonnent les actions présentes. La réponse conclut en soulignant l’importance du régionalisme canadien et de l’image mythique du pionnier, et la façon dont cela est lié à la construction de masculinités distinctes par les manifestants. This article responds to the other contributions in this special issue, focusing on points of convergence among them. These include a shared sense that the media mishandled the trucker convoy; a common conviction that the protestors’ rhetoric often involved an ideological substitution of part for whole (or vice versa); and a shared interest in how mythic narratives of the past shape present actions. The response concludes by pointing to the salience of Canadian regionalism and the mythic image of the pioneer, and how this relates to the protestors’ construction of distinctive masculinities. |
