Se identifica como un fariseo fiel a las Escrituras de Israel que espera la resurrección general. Además, Pablo, el prisionero, se cuida mucho de no difamar su religión ancestral ni de poner en peligro ni siquiera a sus adversarios judíos. Por último, pero no por ello menos importante, otros perciben a Pablo firmemente dentro de los límites del judaísmo y como inocente de los cargos que se le imputan. Tras un repaso de las evidencias, el artículo analiza las propuestas relativas a la función retórica de esta representación y sugiere que su objetivo es contrarrestar las dos falsas acusaciones formuladas contra Pablo que se citan explícitamente en Hechos 21. En primer lugar, Pablo no tiene la culpa de la forma en que los judíos se comportaron con él. Pablo no es culpable de la forma en que se le ha difamado en el seno de la comunidad judía de Jerusalén creyente en Cristo, ni de las acusaciones vertidas contra él por algunos judíos de la diáspora. Estas acusaciones no pueden desacreditar al hombre y su mensaje. Los lectores pueden estar seguros de lo que se les ha enseñado (Lc 1,1-4). | ||
| 520 | |a This article examines the different ways in which Paul is characterised as a faithful Jew in the final chapters of the Book of Acts. Paul is arrested in the context of a cult-related activity on the temple premises in Jerusalem, and recounts his distinctly Jewish past and particularly his Jewish motivations for coming to the city. He identifies himself as a Pharisee who is loyal to Israel's Scriptures and is awaiting the general resurrection. In addition, Paul the prisoner is very careful not to malign his ancestral religion or to endanger even his Jewish opponents. Last but not least, others perceive Paul to befirmly within tbe bounds of judaism and innocent of the charges levelled against him. After a survey of the evidence, the article discusses proposals regarding the rhetorical function of this portrayal and suggests that it is intended to counter the two false charges levelled against Paul which are explicitly quoted in Acts 21. Paul is not to blame for the way in which be bas been maligned within the Jewish Christ-believing community in Jerusalem, nor of the charges levelled against him by some Jews from the diaspora. These charges cannot discredit the man and bis message. The readers can have certainty about what they have been instructed in (Luke 1, 1-4). | ||
