Se recurrió al análisis de microdatos, tomando como base los arrojados por el censo de población de 1930. Para poder hacer fructífera esta información, previamente realizamos una reconstrucción histórica del pentecostalismo pionero que llegó a esta región a partir de 1925, el cual sería incorporado a un movimiento religioso que se encontraba en proceso de expansión y consolidación que en los años posteriores se convertiría en la Iglesia Apostólica de la Fe en Cristo Jesús. La figura fundamental del proceso inicial fue Tiburcio Santos, migrante mexicano convertido al pentecostalismo en el sur de Estados Unidos, quien decidió volver a su lugar de origen en Sinaloa para predicar su nueva fe. Santos participó como empadronador en el censo de 1930, registrando datos valiosos que esta investigación rescata. Este artículo presenta la reconstrucción de la historia de fe de Santos y su iglesia de conversión y el análisis del censo de 1930, referencias cuya combinación fue el fundamento de nuestra descripción e interpretación de las características sociodemográficas de los primeros pentecostales del Valle del Évora, en el noroeste mexicano. | ||
| 520 | |a This article contains a socio-demographic analysis of the first Pentecostal believers in the Évora Valley, a region located in the north-central part of the Mexican state of Sinaloa. The analysis draws on microdata, taking as its base the results of the Census of the Sinaloa population of 1930. To make this data fruitful, we first conducted a historic reconstruction of the pioneering Pentecostalism that first arrived in this region beginning in 1925 and would go on to be incorporated into a religious movement already in a process of expansion and consolidation, which in ensuing years would become the Iglesia Apostólica de la Fe en Cristo Jesús. The foundational figure in the initial process was Tiburcio Santos, a Mexican migrant converted to Pentecostalism in the southern United States, who decided to return to his place of origin in Sinaloa to preach his mew faith. Santo participated as a census taker in the Census of 1930, recording valuable data recovered by this investigation. This article reconstructs the history of Santos’s faith, of the church of his conversion, and of the Census of 1930, the combination of which provides the foundation for our description and interpretation of the socio-demographic characteristics of the first Pentecostals in the Valle del Évora, in northwestern Mexico. | ||
