Summary:In this article we collect the first data elaborated from the Moncat database that gathers data of 9,800 religious who professed between 1850 and 1936 from a systematic emptying of the population registers of Catalonia. From these data we reconstruct the geography of the origin of nuns in Catalonia, the relationship between origin and congregations, the origin of the nuns according to whether they were cities with or without a diocese and the average length of stay in the convents.
