A reading of these works reveals that the author has an understanding of Christianity that distances itself from the orthodox view. As a result, commentators on the philosopher such as Jad Hatem, Joseph Rivera and Kevin Hart argue that there is a Gnostic orientation in his thinking. Gnosticism is a movement that emerged in the second century and that defends the thesis that the material world is evil, having been created by an inferior god. From a comparison between Henry’s intuitions and Gnostic ideas, this article highlights a set of common theses shared by Henry’s philosophy of Christianity and Gnosticism. It concludes, therefore, that these theses indicate at least a Gnostic influence on the author’s philosophy. | ||

As suas reflexões sobre a religião cristã aparecem especialmente em uma trilogia, Eu Sou a Verdade (1996/2015); Encarnação: uma filosofia da carne (2000/2014) e Palavras de Cristo (2002/2014). Um estudo atento do resultado dessas obras revela que o autor tem uma compreensão do Cristianismo que se distancia da visão tradicional e convencional, se não ortodoxa. Em razão disso, comentaristas do filósofo como Jad Hatem, Joseph Rivera e Kevin Hart defendem que essa compreensão tende a uma orientação "gnóstica" no pensamento do fenomenólogo. O Gnosticismo é um movimento que surgiu no século II e que defende a tese de que o mundo material é mau, tendo sido criado por um deus inferior. A partir de uma comparação entre as intuições de Henry e as ideias gnósticas, este artigo evidencia um conjunto de teses comuns compartilhadas pela filosofia henryana do Cristianismo e o Gnosticismo. Conclui-se, pois, que essas teses são um indicativo ao menos de uma influência gnóstica na filosofia do autor. | ||
