Of course, some elements of Zen can be welcome additions to prayer, leading to the discovery of new dimensions of prayer. Zazen in particular plunges the practitioner into the depths of his being, to the most true and pure layer of his spiritual life. And this experience is a challenge because it points to the very source of life. Buddhism, as we know, is a non-theistic tradition. Anyone who thus engages at this level hears the question that had already shaken the psalmist: "Where is your God?" (Ps 41:4). This question may be welcomed in the name of the Gospel. | ||
