Cependant, étant donné les acquis du mouvement œcuménique, il estime qu’il est possible d’affirmer « une seule Église, bien qu’en communion imparfaite ». Cette affirmation prend en compte ce qui unit déjà les Églises, mais reconnaît aussi les obstacles qui demeurent, et appelle par là même des propositions de conversion en vue d’une plus grande communion. | ||

It shows how catholicity has been understood throughout history, and sets out its scriptural foundations. It acknowledges the differences that still separate the ecclesiologies of the Catholic Church and the churches of the Reformation. However, given the achievements of the ecumenical movement, it believes it is possible to affirm "one Church, albeit in imperfect communion".
