She recalls the commandment "You shall love the stranger, for in the land of Egypt you were strangers" and examines how the Christian tradition can live out this commandment today, since faith in the fulfilment of the Passover in Jesus Christ implies the acknowledgement of its source in the history of the Jewish people. Welcoming migrants engages the memory of God’s people and their hope. | ||
