| Summary: | Im Gros frühneuzeitlicher Darstellungen des Teufels als angsteinflößende Monstrosität fallen die erzählerischen und graphischen Umsetzungen auf, die einen merkbar anderen Weg einschlagen. Hierzu zählt die Inszenierung des diabolischen Feindes als latente Gefahr in der Flugpublizistik. Der ontologische Status des Teufels als lauernder Beobachter changiert dabei oftmals zwischen personalem äußeren Feind und Imagination innerer Selbstgefährdung. Die Studie geht der Funktionsweise von Bild-Text-Kombinationen nach, die ihre Wirksamkeit durch eine solche spezifische Gestaltung gerade zu erhöhen suchen. Die innerbildliche Wahrnehmungsproblematik überträgt sich hierbei als rezeptionsästhetischer Irritationsmoment auf die übergeordnete Beobachtungsebene Betrachtender. Im Fokus der Untersuchung stehen Beobachtungskonstellationen zwischen Gott, Mensch und Teufel sowie bildliche und narrative Strategien und Effekte der Aufmerksamkeitslenkung. Wachsamkeit gegenüber dem Teufel im Sinne einer moralischen Selbst- und sozialen Fremdbeobachtung wird durch den medialen Habitus der Sichtbarmachung besonders wirkungsvoll erprobt und eingeübt. The focus of the study is on observation constellations between God, man, and the devil, as well as on visual and narrative strategies and effects of directing attention. Vigilance against the devil in the sense of moral self-observation and social external observation is particularly effectively tested and practiced through the media's habitus of visualization.
