Both desire and the need to supplant the other drive the characters in their search for realization, but that search is condemned to frustration given the parallel natures of desire and the supplementary. At the end of the play, the curtain falls at a moment when the last word in the endless chain has yet to be spoken, when both desire and the supplement are still in full force. | ||
