Mi sono chiesta se la letteratura potesse fornire riscontri pertinenti e quali fossero gli aspetti della sua vita e gli scritti più significativi, al riguardo. Alcune risposte e alcune altre domande, da ampliare in ulteriori studi, sono arrivate dalla lettura di Cristina Campo, Clarice Lispector, Flannery O’Connor, Silvia Plath. Sono emersi due percorsi rilevanti. Il primo riguarda le rappresentazioni figurative e le narrative implicite che hanno fatto conoscere la Santa, inclusi i ritratti leggendari della stessa. Il secondo mostra l’autorappresentazione di Thérèse di Lisieux: appare determinata, appassionata, molto fragile, molto forte. In entrambe le aree di interesse si può intravedere una partecipazione affettiva e riflessiva nei confronti della Santa che apre a una, più o meno esplicita, visione: la portata trasformativa della sofferenza e di ogni processo verso e attraverso il vero sé. Con esiti evidenti e con esiti celati. This paper addresses some questions regarding the ability of Thérèse of Lisieux to spark interest, beyond specific confessional affiliations. I wondered whether literature could provide pertinent evidence, and what aspects of her life and of her writings were more significant, in this regard. Some answers and some other questions, to be expanded in further studies, came from reading Cristina Campo, Clarice Lispector, Flannery O’Connor, Sylvia Plath. Two relevant paths emerged. The first concerns the figurative representations and the implicit narratives that made the Saint known, including her legendary portraits. The second shows Thérèse’s self-representation: she appears determined, passionate, very fragile, very strong. In both areas of interest, we can glimpse an affective and reflective resonance with the Saint, which opens up to a more or less explicit vision: the transformative power of suffering and of every process towards and through the true self. With both: disclosed and unrevealed effects. | ||
