Description
Summary:About 1915 Georges Dumézil (1898-1986) took up again the indo-european dossier studied by Max Millier and James Frazer. As from 1936, his discoveries became a key to the understanding of archaic arian thought. The existence of a functional and hierarchical ideology is met hère : religious and juridical souvereignty or sacred domain ; physical strenght applied specifically to war : fecundity as second to the two other strenghts but indispensible to their blossoming and to the life of society. After 1936, and for fourty years, he continued his study on the theology of the three functions and the trifold partition of society. His comparative genetic method allows him to picture part of the aryan prehistory and draw from it a certain number of Systems historically true which are its survivors. The crop is rich : existence of an indo-european heritage at the origins of Rome ; new insights in the trifunctional theology of the ancient germanic religion ; continuance of the aryan religious thought in India and Iran : density of the sacral dimension in the archaic aryan religion. Moreover, the genetic comparative method of Dumézil will allow a new study of prehistoric man 's religion.
