Description
Item Description:Old St. John's Church. Located upon the site of an old Indian Settlement this venerable edifice has undergone many alterations and enlargements from the original structure completed in 1741, when the Old Dominion owed allegiance to George III, of which the East and West transepts of the present building still remains. It was here that Patrick Henry during the Convention of 1775 delivered his famous speech, "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death." Many curious tombs and epitaphs are to be found among the surrounding ground
