Item Description:St. John's Roman Catholic Church was the immediate results of the death of John Carrell Jenkins of Company G Second Maryland Brigade of the Confederate Army who died on October 11, 1861 during the war between the States. In fulfillment of a promise which John Carrell Jenkins had made earlier his family decided to build a church at the location where he was fatally wounded. The cornerstone was laid 1883 and was dedicated to God, September 7, 1884
