Item Description:The First Baptist Church is an exceptionally handsome and imposing brick edifice, which was erected at a cost of $23,000, and has a seating capacity of 800 people. The church was organized on August 18th, 1831 with a membership of 31, but has increased so wonderfully that it now ranks fourth largest of the Baptist churches in Virginia
