Item Description: | This church was organized in 1800, with Rev. John Robinson, pastor. James Monroe, President of the U. S., and John Quincy Adams, Secretary of State, contributed to its erection.The woman's organization dates back to 1816, the Communion set to 1824. In 1854, James Dobbin, Secretary of Navy and a member of this church, opened the ports of Japan to the world through Com. Perry. Moreau, Prince of Arabia, also a member, gave the Arabic Bible to his tribesmen. Awarded National Prize for beautiful architecture in 1924 |
