This Church was organized in 1837 and may be considered the result of the work of Bishop Asbury, pioneer preacher and organizer of the Methodist Church in Western North Carolina. The present modern plant is the third building to be erected on the original location in downtown Asheville. With a membership of more than 2,200, Central Church is one of the largest Methodist Churches in North Carolina
