Item Description:Central Methodist Church, Detroit, is the oldest Protestant organization in Michigan, established by special territorial charter signed by Governor A. B. Woodward. The present edifice was erected during Civil War days. President Ulysses S. Grant was one of the worshipers. The building is one of the finest samples of American Gothic architecture
