Lowndes. - Title within double-rule. - Contains 46 engraved emblems. - Translation of: Pia desideria. - In verse. - Errata listed at foot of page [8] at beginning. - With a final advertisement leaf. - Signatures: A B-Q (Leaf A3 mis-signed B3). - Errors in pagination: pages 16, 98, 99, 102, 103, 106, 107, 110, 111, 209, 212, and 213 are misnumbered as 14, 82, 83, 86, 87, 90, 91, 94, 95, 109, 112, and 113, respectively. - Inscription in ink on front free endpaper verso: "with Sturt's plates -- (scarce) ... Herman Hugo, author of Pia Desideria, was a learned Jesuit born at Brussels in 1588. It was first published in 1632, [?] & upniled[?] by Elzevir in 32mo. -- Hugo died in 1639.
