Summary: | With regard to security the présent epoch is characterized by a polarisation around two tendencies : on the one hand, the aspiration for disarmament (mani- fested by the peace movements), and on the other hand, the firm désire for rearmament (made dramatically visible by the Euromissles' affair). A brief analysis leads to the conclusion that both currents harbor the risk ofleading to dead ends. The underlying hypothesis points to thefact that they both lack the dimension of médiation : politics, as a power which effectively guarantees rights. Conséquent ly the rest of the article attempts to link the relations efforce to politics, on the one hand, and values (ethics) to the same politics, on the other hand. In this way an articulation ofthe problematics becomes évident in four dimensions which constitute the work of peace : thefact (force), law (politics), value (ethics) and ultimately (Christian) hope. |
