Summary: | In this essay, I suggest Sir Thomas Browne as a new religious and medical author of influence. Based on a radical perspective of the anatomy of the human soul, he emphasizes the importance of a rational faith to fulfill the demand of reason and to create a Reformative social milieu in defense of cultural Christianity. In a situation where there is a geographic turn in religious studies and a religious turn in literary studies, I redefine Sir Thomas Browne’s geography of religion as an environment where God’s love, including the human practice of charity, unfolds for Christian tolerance and reconciliation. |
