AB This article examines the origins, textual history, and meaning of the initial forms of blessing used in Eucharistic formulae in the Constantinopolitan liturgical tradition. In particular, it assesses the validity of the "eschatological" interpretation that some twentieth-century theologians have attributed to the blessing of God’s "basileia".
