Basierend auf soziodemografischen Daten, die wir im Rahmen des Projekts „The Migration of Israeli Jews to Germany since 1990" (GIF 1186) ermittelt haben und ergänzt durch fortlaufende ethnografische Feldforschung, untersucht dieser Beitrag institutionelle Migrationsinfrastrukturen und ihre Intersektion mit sozialer Klasse. Israeli*nnen der „kreativen Klasse", die nach Berlin migrieren und dort leben, sind aufgrund spezifischer deutscher und israelischer Identitätsinvestments medial überrepräsentiert. Diese israelischen Jüdinnen*Juden dienen als Projektionsfläche; sie werden als Kontinuität der vertriebenen und ermordeten Jüdinnen*Juden mit dem Bonus 'Israeli' interpretiert. Sie eignen sich hervorragend als Fallstudie, um die deutsch/jüdisch/israelischen Beziehungen zu analysieren und die Intersektion von symbolisch israelischem und symbolisch jüdischem Kapital sowie dem symbolischen Kapital der „kreativen Klasse" in Berlin und Deutschland zu untersuchen. Wir kommen zu dem Schluss, dass die „kreative Klasse" für die institutionelle Infrastruktur zentral ist, diese Infrastruktur aber nicht nachhaltig ist und dass die von uns herausgearbeitete Intersektion die soziale Ungleichheit vor Ort verstärkt. | ||
| 520 | |a The number of Israelis in Germany is rather small, most of this current volume owes to movements between the mid-2000s to the mid-2010s. Drawing on socio-demographic research conducted within the framework of "The Migration of Israeli Jews to Germany since 1990" (GIF 1186), and amending it by on-going, multi-sited ethnographic fieldwork, we analyse institutional infrastructures of migration and of social class. While 'creative class' Israelis migrate to and live in Berlin, they tend to be over-reported in the media thanks to specific German and Israeli identity investments. These Israeli Jews are a smoke screen; they are interpreted as the replacements for the displaced and murdered Jews with the 'add on' of Israeliness. They make for a fine case study of understanding German/Jewish/Israeli relations and unpicking the symbolic Israeli and Jewish capital in combination with the concept of 'creative class' in situ in Berlin and across Germany. We come to the conclusion that while the creative class is central in designing institutional infrastructures, these infrastructures do not offer sustainability for the 'creative class', and impact on social inequality in situ. | ||
