Description
Summary:The article deals with the promises a phenomenological approach to revelation holds for systematic theology. It develops a map of different notions of revelation and their challenges while turning to more recent revisionary suggestions to treat the concept of revelation as a result of the believer’s reflection on the status of certain symbols and convictions. In contrast, it introduces phenomenological approaches as a means to regain the horizon-expanding, even horizon-breaking, dimension of the appearance of the divine.
