Summary: | The article is divided into two sections. The first one highlights at the outset the network of theology faculties in India. The second section points out for future consideration a number of challenges: (1) the problem of the recognition of theology faculties by government administrations, which do not see "theology" as a discipline to be taught as a part of universities; (2) a need for better coordination between the faculties to define respective areas of specialization; (3) a need for redefining theological education based on the real-life struggle and daily experiences of the Asian people; (4) financial constraints to help poor students; and (5) the problem of convincing Church authorities that theological equipment through postgraduate studies is a necessary requirement for the Church. |
