Description
Summary:The Church is for Ratzinger a network of Eucharistic communities that look to Rome, while also word and ministry are agents of ecclesial communion. Linking the two concepts, the bride of Christ is the people called together by God who gather around the word and the sacraments, especially around the eucharistic body. The importance of apostolic succession, episcopacy and the correlative primacy are central. The theological dialogue with other Christian confessions is therefore also centered around the concepts of authority, ministry, apostolic succession and the different conceptions of Eucharistic ecclesiology, where the Catholic perspective presents its own specificity.
