The matter is more complicated and closely related to his views on the tribes of Israel, the historiography of Israel and the origin of the hexateuch. Von Rad. who was much influenced by Alt and Noth. be-lieved that different tribes from different places entered the promised land at different times and only became a united group in Palestine. This gave rise to the blending of many different traditions. Israells historiography was such that it is virtually impossible to determine the original historic event. The origin of the Hexateuch is also related to his views on the exodus and Sinai. The Yahwist, who used the credo as his basis. laid the foundations for the Hexateuch and ih the course of time many authors contri-buted to its present form. The material which was used in the Hexateuch originated in different places and were of diverse origin. All these elements help to clarify Von Rad's views. | ||
