| Summary: | Artificial intelligence (AI) is a growing reality with varied applications that poses many challenges, particularly to the notion of personhood and, consequently, to the understanding and experience of spirituality. This article takes stock of this situation by reflecting on the meaning of intelligence. It then reviews the applications of AI in contemporary life. The article concludes with a more speculative view on the possible implications of AI for spirituality, underlining that, although the outlook appears daunting, AI can provide new perspectives and serve as an avenue for a strengthening of spirituality. La inteligencia artificial (IA) es una realidad creciente con aplicaciones variadas que plantea muchos desafíos, particularmente a la noción de persona y, en consecuencia, a la comprensión y vivencia de la espiritualidad. Este artículo traza el panorama de tal situación desde una reflexión sobre el significado de la inteligencia. A continuación, se revisan las aplicaciones de la IA en la vida contemporánea. El artículo concluye con una visión más especulativa sobre las posibles implicaciones de la IA para la espiritualidad, subrayando que, aunque el panorama aparece como desalentador, la IA puede proporcionar nuevas perspectivas y servir de vía para un fortalecimiento de la espiritualidad. |
