Dans l’Église latine d’Occident, ces traductions pourraient être la toute première référence littéraire explicite de la pratique de s’adresser au Christ avec des actions de grâces. | ||

By translating χάριν ἔχω not with gratiam habeo, but with gratias ago, however, Old Latin translations from the third century C.E. let Paul expressly refer to prayers of thanksgiving addressed to Jesus Christ. In the Latin-speaking Church of the West, this might be considered the first express literary reference to the devotional practice of addressing Jesus Christ with prayers of thanksgiving. | ||
