Resumo:How do recently crafted objects of dubious provenance become ancient manuscripts of serious scientific interest? In this article, we will explore the curious case of Hazon Gabriel. We will demonstrate how this unprovenanced stone inscription was turned into an "authentic" artifact with an ideal provenance, and we will discuss the role of the owner and the scholarly community in this process.
